I love the idea of sample sizes. This way I can try out a new product without too much commitment. Besides I like small packages. They are cute and I don’t get sick of a product too fast.

Where can i (or is there a way to) purchase packs of these smaller sizes of skinceutical products? I travel a lot and having smaller sized bottles is always a plus.

I love your blog and I know your gonna be a fabulous derm!! I was speaking to Dr. Benabio over on the QVC bulletin board. He was taking requests for topics for his blog. Do you take requests? I would love to hear more about your opinion on laser procedures. I’ve got sundamaged skin from the use of tanning beds years ago. Most products cannot repair the damage but I’m looking for something that might make my skin look a little more tight and smoothed out, especially under my eyes. I’m also looking into laser resurfacing. I’m 43 years old and I would describe my skin as “weatherbeaten”. I would also like to hear your opinion on any products that might benefit me. My skin is getting “crepey” looking. If you could address any of these issues in a future blog I would really appreciate it. I trust your opinion. Thanks, Keli

Great contest, thanks for keeping things interesting!
I don’t know all the scientific facts behind skincare products (although thanks to you I am learning) but I have had some tangible proof that staying out of the sun does keep your skin looking younger. I went to high school in a cold climate area and there was a group of girls that I was friendly with that tanned regularly, one even owned her own tanning bed and I was forbidden (much to my dismay then) to go to a tanning salon or tan at my friends house, and my mother was very watchful of my overall time in the sun, so yes I was pale while my friends were bronzed, but… I recently got together with this group of women after about a 10 year period, and my husband and my father could not believe how much younger I looked than these other women. It was noticeable, their skin paid the price of their bronzed youth. I thanked my mother who resisted the urge to say “I told you so”. Thanks Mom!

This would be a great way to try Skinceuticals and thanks for the SkinMedix.com tip.
Comment by samantha | May 27, 2008
What fascinates me about this particular group of skin care products is their “science lab” look. I’ve noticed some recent products have this definite tendency to say here, buy our stuff, not only does it look like it was heavily tested in a lab by well-funded scientists who only want you to look your best, but it comes with it’s own beakers and droppers so you can play Frankenstein with your looks yourself! Mad Scientists Unite! (Lab coat not included.) This isn’t intended as a full knock, just a nod to the market.
Oh, and an effort to make sure this post is not just spam. Contest baby!
Comment by Stana | May 27, 2008

Could you review Sally Hansen Age Correct Retinol Hand Cream? I was looking for a retinol based cream for the evening.
(BTW where do you find the time? & Your website is THE most informative one I have found in regards to beauty products)
Comment by Z | May 30, 2008
Can you clear up the effect of glycolic acid on the skin? I thought I read in New Beauty magazine in the Spring-Summer 2008 issue that glycolic acid can breakgown collagen. But I have also read that glycolic acid and other AHA’s stimulate new collagen and elastin growth. Is this debate due to the delivery system (cream/lotion/serum, etc.) pH levels in relation to glycolic acid? Am I right to think that if the pH of the cream is 4.5 then the cream with the glycolic acid is ineffectual?
Comment by Z | May 30, 2008
Dear Z (comment #35),
I will look into Sally Hansen Age Correct Retinol Hand Cream. Unfortunately, I have 78 e-mail requests to review products in my inbox right now, and I am currently a bit swamped. I do, however, appreciate your request, and I do take every request seriously. I am currently planning out a way to get to all of the products more efficiently!
In the meantime, just keep in mind that using retinol is best for night, since it makes the skin sensitive to the sun.
Thanks for understanding!
Sincerely,
Nicki

Dear Z (comment #36),
Here is a link to an article I wrote all about the effects of glycolic acid:

I very much hope that this helps you!
Sincerely,
Nicki

Great contest. Skinceutical products are the best!!!
Comment by Laure | June 4, 2008
Thank you for being so thorough with your entries. I love clicking through, seeing your citations and reading more on the topic if I wish. I know how tedious this is
– so THANK YOU!
I might also have to add that because of your wonderful product reviews and sincerity on what products YOU actually use, my “cutis” has never looked more radiant. Wish my Derm would actually be as proactive about aging… as you probably would be (2012, right!).
Your radiant reader, Nancy

Thanks for posting cutting edge info about skincare. I think I’m going to forward your “Atkins ages your collagen” info to some of my carb-hating friends!
BTW, would love to know what you think about peptides.
Comment by Cheryl B. | June 4, 2008
Great blog! I appreciate the research results included and thorough review of ingredients in products.
I am also curious if there is any new research comparing coffee berry to CE Ferulic.
Any new information on preventing skin tags or skin tag removal? Was wondering if skin tags are similar to varicella on molecular level–if so would chicken pox vaccine suppress skin tags?

Anyone out there with Asian skin knows that most products interact differently on our skin. I have melasma and had tried many products both Rx and over the counter (OTC). Happened to find something that has been working pretty well. I normally would never shop on ebay for skincare products or anything ingested, but I am glad I did. I also am wondering what results have been achieved with MaMa Lotion (Mandelic and Malic Acid). The product I got from ebay is from the Philippines and is a black bar of soap which contains licorice. Came in a set with hyperpigmentation inhibiting cream. There are also kojic acid bars of soap that are orange, but not sure what the difference is between the two bars. Glad I found this site, will be sure to visit often. I would love to win some Skinceuticals’ products, I have never tried them.
Comment by Marla | June 11, 2008
Thank you! I read regularly but rarely comment. This is a great contest. The products contain potent ingredients and look like what stuff from chem lab.
Comment by Joyce | June 13, 2008

I just came back from a chemical peel where the esthetician suggested I purchase the new Skinceuticals Phloretin CF product through her office. I’d never heard of it and thought I’d check it out online. I’m glad I did bc 1) I could enter this drawing and 2) I could purchase both Phloretin CF and C E Ferulic at MUCH better prices than at the derm’s office.
Hope I win!!
Comment by shirley | June 19, 2008
Oh, I’m buying the sample sizes to give it a try first. Got some wicked hyperpigmentation!
Comment by shirley | June 19, 2008
And, btw:
1 pack of 6 travel samples of Phloretin CF – 1 oz. $45.
1 30ml bottle of Phloretin CF – about 1 oz. $129.
Is that a deal at skinmedix.com or what?
Comment by shirley | June 19, 2008
Doh!
Thought today was the 18th.
