Thanks! This is good to know. It surprised me that vinegar can help, since it's a weak acid. The other products are cool since they are anti-inflammatory. I hope I won't need to use this info since I stay away from the sun.

Stupid sunburn.... I used the aspirin yesterday. Today, barely red. HOWEVER, it should be mentioned that aspirin is a blood thinner, and you will bruise up while using it for a sunburn. And if you have any questions, check with your doctor. Aspirin shouldn't be taken by those on other blood thinners, certain medications, and some health problems (unless directed).

Great tips, Nicki. I have been doing the DIY green tea mask for about a year. After I use it, my face feels so wonderfully tight.

i love aloe. so much that i own 3 aloe plants. i use the fresh sap on my facial at least 2-3x week as a facial mask. it truly does everything-- reduces pore size, moisturize, hydrate, reduce inflammation... I even use this on my scalp as a hair treatment. i love aloe!!!

As someone with fair skin, I can tell you from personal experience that the asprin really helps! I've also used white vinegar compresses and oatmeal baths with success too. I highly recommend them. I hope to never sunburn again (thank you SPF 85!), but I'll file away the other tips just in case.

The aloe and the asprin tricks really work. Lots of water helps the skin get fluids, too. Thanks for the great post!

Nicki, I love this blog, because it is so informative, and you make it fun and interesting.

I have successfully reduced irritation after shaving in the bikini area, by applying a mix of pulverized aspirin and glycerine. (Only at bedtime, because the aspirin granules are visible). I am wondering if this mix, or one of aspirin and aloe, would be helpful to sunburn. I think I will try it on my husband's next sunburn. He usually forgets to re-apply sunscreen when at the beach and ends up with a burn.

I had a reaction to a lidocaine spray once - 30 minutes in an ince-cold shower later, scratching furiously, I learned to seek other methods of helping to relieve the pain of a sunburn.

Interesting about the vinegar... How would one apply this? Cotton rounds? Do you dilute it or apply it neat? I don't intend on getting sunburn ever again, but have plenty of friends who think they're invulnerable to the suns rays :)

Thanks, Nicki. All I've ever done was use aloe gel after a burn. With my fair Irish skin, I regret having many. It doesn't take much. Now I'm careful. Hope not too much damage was done in my youth.
