It’s that time again: I review the best of the beauty blogs of the past two weeks, so you don’t have to.
Here goes:
Beauty Junkie in S.F. reviews Clean and Clear new Soft In-Shower Facial ($13.07 for two, Amazon.com). The facial contains the potent AHA glycolic acid in fair concentration, plus green tea to give a uniquely hydrating mineral facial that doesn’t break the bank!
Frappelattes gives the scoop on how to find the right sunglasses for your face, based on your facial shape. Considering that UV rays cause 80 to 90 percent of the signs of premature aging, protecting that delicate eye area cannot be over-emphasized. Might as well look beautiful while you do it!
Beauty Anonymous reviews the new Chillessence “Be Great” Body Care Line, which was launched in April 2008 to be free of artificial, toxic, or harmful ingredients…even the packaging materials are eco-friendly and recycled/recyclable products. Although I do not believe that all natural skin care is usually better, if you are a friend of the green movement, Chillessence products appear to be quality!
Dr. Leslie Baumann (The Skin Guru) ‘fesses up as to why she doesn’t like mineral make-up. Definitely a must-read for those who have made mineral a must-have for their skin!
Enjoy this week’s best posts…come back for a review of Bioessence products soon!

I have been a BE (bare escentuals)for quite some time. I was never fond of regular mucky makeup and never wore any for that reason so this fits perfectly and really does give a wonderful look without the gooy face and mismatch neck. Over 40, it gives a smoother complexion, and I just find it hard to believe there could be any problem. If all these people see great results, then why is it such a success? I also think there are far too many chemicals out there…so I guess it’s personal preference
oh, I was interested in the Clean and Clear- good to know it has more than minimal amount of AHAs
I love Bare Minerals/Bare Escentuals make-up! I have fairly sensitive skin & this is the only thing that doesn’t cause either breakouts or oily skin for me. It gives me a smooth, natural-looking complexion & it’s so easy to use. As soon as I tried it, I became a life-long fan! I also appreciate that it does not contain as many harmful chemicals as most liquid foundations. Regarding the article by Dr. Baumann, I did appreciate her information on the SPF of this product. As with most products, you have to use quite a bit to get the SPF listed on the package. Based on that, it’s best to use another sunblock as well. However, I’m not so sure about her point on gold allergies… I’m no doctor, but this seems somewhat unlikely. I were jewlery & have never had a problem. There definitely could be another reason for the rise in skin allergies (there is a rise in all allergies right now).
After using using Neutrogena’s Mineral make up, my skin became substantially more oily than it was before I began using the product. Since I have returned to regular Sephora cosmetics. Also, while using the mineral make up by Neutrogena, my skin was much more sensitive to sunlight which, after reading the article by Dr. Baumann, I finally understand why. If anyone has seen marked improvement in their skin after using a type of mineral make up, would you please let me know?
Thank you for plugging my sunglasses article! This is the first time I’ve been acquainted with your site and it’s very informative. Great idea, great job! ♥
I simply like the way certain brands of mineral makeup make my skin look. I haven’t encountered more than superficial benefits, but it isn’t surprising to me that a seeming alright product could be harmful.
