I wish Neutrogena worked for me but I've found all of them to peel off under makeup! Very annoying. I like Colorescience products - the powder makeup is good too - spf 20 or 30 with 6% Zinc. Since Zinc is the only full-spectrum block out there, why even use a chemical screen?

Comparing Helioplex with Mexoryl SX is crazy, since L’Oréal always combines it. Comparisons should be made on total formulas, not one ingredient!

New technology? I don't think so, it isn't much different than other sunscreens with Helioplex hardly providing any more UVA protection because they maxed out on the avobenzone and oxybenzone.

Burnout Eco-Sensitive Zinc Oxide sunscreen is the most effective product I have used. I recently purchased the product at Whole Foods. It is formulated with 18.6% Zinc Oxide as the only active ingredient. The base of plant-based ingredients is very silky and has the best texture of any product I have used. I was recently in Hawaii and spent a lot of time in the ocean and the product did not wash off, burn my eyes, and my skin appeared to not even tan let alone burn. Aparently it was created by an environmental scientist/surfer. They have a kids product and nice lip balms as well.

I agree with Guiness in post #2, i also have a problem with Neutrogena sunscreens - which is frustrating b/c i feel i need the higher SPF since i easily get brown spots. It always "pills" - less so if i just wash my face with cleanser and apply nothing else. I heard it may be the Helioplex in the higher SPFs, doesn't seem to be a problem in the 30/40 SPFs....

I also have a problem with chemical sunscreens. Now their saying the use of nano-particles (titanium and zinc oxide)are not safe either. I have researched sunscreens until the cows come home - whatever that means. I am currently using Kabana organic green screen (tinted) for my face and the untinted for my body. So far I feel really good about the ingredients and quality. They even explained why it isn't rated higher on the EWG reports - apparently they don't verify the SPF of any products they just assume they are correct? hmmmm - not very reassuring.

I'd have to say I agree with the first comment posted by MY. I think it's better to go with sunblocks than sunscreens - I'm still wary of chemicals having to enter my body while there are plenty of sunblocks that do well to stop penetrating of UV rays. I was surprised you didn't list Soleo's SPF 30 Sunblock here - it has a zinc oxide concentration of 22.3%, one of the highest I've seen. UV Naturals & Keys also offer excellent zinc oxide protection. These 3 clearly surpass the measly 6% zinc oxide that DDF has to offer. I wish you had researched all your options.

Additionally, it would've been helpful if you gave suggestions on what sunblocks to use during the summer.
