I look up reviews of products on different sites or blogs, and look for reviews from people with similar skin/hair types as me. Checking for proven ingredients is also important, so when purchasing or researching online I look for products that list their ingredients in the description. Then I wait for the product to go on sale.

I check beautypedia and youtube recommendations.
    And check ingredients.

It is all about the ingrediants: if they are natural – all the better or depending upon what the active ingrediant is designed to do. I look for certain % of the active ingrediant for effectiveness.
