AVON Genics Treatment Cream Review

AVON Genics Treatment Cream features patented YouthGen™ Technology, promising to “stimulate your Youth Gene’s activity, which slows down with age.”  (source: AVON official website).  I’m honestly not too keen on the terminology AVON chose to use (more on that below), but I will say that this is a solid anti-aging cream preferable for nighttime use on normal skin types.  Glycolic acid smooths and refines skin after just a few uses, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles somewhat when used nightly for... read more

Daily Inspiration: “I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.” ― Bill Cosby

Everybody here wants you by SalaBoli
I went through my first twenty-five years completely ignoring my inner voice. I imagine this is pretty common – most of us have a group of friends or a certain special person growing up whose feelings about us we care about more than our own. I often felt as though I needed to live up to “Everybody’s” standards and expectations of me. Only after I nearly lost everything at age 24, I realized my perception of “Everybody” was merely that – a perception. I started to question my idea of... read more

Why Do Dermatologists Like Cetaphil?

Hi, I was wondering why dermatologists recommend Cetaphil, when everything except the water in it is synthetic, when it contains SLS, when it contains no antioxidants, omegas, AHAs, BHAs…anything. I understand it might not irritate your skin, but several of the ingredients have received negative press and have been labelled as potentially toxic. Moreover, there’s nothing in there I can see that will actually improve your skin. Am I missing something-is Cetaphil owned by a corporate giant who will destroy the reputation of any... read more

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Resveratrol + Anti-Aging

Greek Gods loved to drink sweet nectar.  If the modern rumors about resveratrol are true, then surely resveratrol must have been the secret ingredient in their sweet juice, granting everything from cellular life extension to the eradication of cancer cells. Resveratrol (3,5,4′-trihydroxy-trans-stilbene) is a phytoalexin, a compound plants like grapes, berries, and peanuts produce naturally when under attack.  Though two distinct forms exist, cis-resveratrol and trans-resveratrol, the trans-formation has been found to be more stable... read more

Anastasia Beverly Hills Hydrafull Lip Gloss Review

A couple days ago, a company sent me a sample of Anastasia Beverly Hills Hydrafull Lip Gloss for review.  Here’s basically how my thought process worked: 1.  Wow, this stuff looks and feels luxurious! Anastasia Beverly Hills Hydrafull Lip Gloss is thicker than most other lip glosses, but not goopy or sticky.  The secret?  The major ingredients are polyisobutene (a popular mineral oil substitute), sunflower seed oil (an emollient that is 60% linoleic acid, preventing moisture loss), octylodecanol (a long chain fatty alcohol), and... read more

Daily Inspiration: Feeling Stressed? Try This Trick…

Drop by drop fills the bucket. – Confucius From time to time, like many other women in America, I tend to feel overwhelmed by all of the things I have to do. Thankfully, I have some amazing friends to turn to during my less-than-blissful moments.  Just last week, I turned to my friend Marie when I was feeling blue, and she gave me the best advice: “Make small goals.  So you feel like you’ve accomplished something.” But wait, something inside of me screamed, that goes against my entire life philosophy.  You... read more
