Celebrate Spring with the Dove & FutureDerm.com Giveaway!

Dove Clear Tone Clinical Protection - Skin Renew ReviewFutureDerm.com is honored to announce that we’ve teamed up with Dove to offer a free giveaway for Dove Clear Tone Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant, just in time for spring to heat up!

How Aluminum Zirconium Trichlorohydrex GLY Works

Aluminum zirconium trichlorohydrex GLY is a clinical-grade ingredient that used to only be found in prescription deodorant/anti-perspirant formulations.  It is now available in 20% concentrations In Dove Clinical Strength Protection Renew, which is lower than in prescription-grade formulations, but the highest available over-the-counter.

As with other aluminum-based deodorants, aluminum zirconium trichlorohydrex GLY works in two ways:  One, its capsules temporarily clog pores (preventing moisture release).  Two, it absorbs moisture from non-clogged pores (preventing bacteria breakdown and nasty scent release).  The net result?  Increased freshness and dryness!

Is it safe?

As with many skin care ingredients, there has been concerned raised on the web as to the safety of aluminum zirconium trichlorohydrex GLY.  In this case, it is due to the fact that the metal, aluminum, has been identified as a neurotoxin in this 1989 study in Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Reviews, amongst others.  However, aluminum zirconium trichlorohydrex itself has not been found in any clinical studies to be correlated with a higher incidence of any disease, at least not in any studies I could find.

Is it irritating?

No.  Dove Clear Tone Anti-perspirant is combined with conditioning ingredients Calendula, Sunflower Seed Extracts and 1/4 Dove® moisturizers.  It is designed to help soothe the delicate underarm area, despite the strength of aluminum zirconium tetrachlorohydrex.
