Product Review: NARS Andy Warhol Debbie Harry Eye and Cheek Palette
This limited edition palette has vibrant colors that work very well for a bold work and surprisingly well for something more subtle.
The beauty blogosphere has been absolutely buzzing about NARS’ Andy Warhol collection and after looking at it, I adore the vibrant hues they’ve put out. In particularly, the Debbie Harry Eye and Cheek Palette ($65, amazon.com) caught my eye immediately. It’s perfect for a bold look, but surprisingly versatile enough for something for day, with glittering black, playful teal, a whimsical purple, and glimmering white highlight for the eyes, along with a creamy nude highlight and the perfect subtle flushing pink for blush.
I couldn’t wait to try it and with the help of my friend Laura, I had a blast trying it out.
Blush and Highlighter
The blush in NARS Andy Warhol Collection Debbie Harry Palette is a very natural pink hue, with a sort of tan undertone that I think would work well on a variety of skin tones without seeming too bright. Similarly, the highlighter is a buttery beige. While both have shimmer to them, it’s not particularly apparent unless you’re under a bright light.
Color/Pigmentation: 5/5
You get some really saturated color with this kit and the blush is no different. Though it may be natural looking, it’s quite pigmented, a few swirls of the makeup brush and you’re glowing.
Durability: 4/5
This blush is fairly durable. It should definitely get you through your day or night, and while I can’t speak for being super active or sweating (though the flush probably makes blush a bit pointless then!), I can say it holds up through the normal running around of a day.
Texture/Finish: 5/5
This gives you a beautiful dewy finish that doesn’t look too powdery or bright.
The Eyeshadow
The eyeshadows in NARS Andy Warhol Collection Debbie Harry Palette, much like their namesake, are anything but subtle. And while you can do a bright and daring look for evening very easily, it’s not difficult to take the bright teal, anything-but-shrinking-violet-purple, and glittering black and make something that still looks appropriate for day.
Color/Pigmentation: 5/5
Super bright and very pigmented, this eyeshadow had the va-va-vavoom you want from Andy Warhol and blended together so well.
Durability: 4/5
This eyeshadow is pretty durable, throughout the day it stayed on my lid and just as pigmented. It does rub off a bit through just the usual grind, but overall stays on very well.
Texture/Finish: 5/5
The eyeshadow is just gorgeous on. It has a great smooth finish.
Bottom Line
NARS Andy Warhol Collection Debbie Harry Eye and Cheek Palette has beautiful colors that can be a bit daunting at first but are actually versatile enough to wear for day or night. They’re great tones for multiple skin tones and they last fairly well.
What i liked most about the palette and the collection in general is that the bold colors, which are definitely in the spirit of Andy Warhol, are quite different from what you’ll find elsewhere. They really seem like vibrant and well-thought-out palettes. Truth be told, I was surprised when I found how well they would work for a more subtle look, I had assumed they were best suited for bold — though it would be a shame never to rock something really stunning.
Product Rating: 9.5/10
