I have a confession to make: I cheated on my gel eyeliner with Laura Mercier Graphic Liquid Eyeliner ($24, amazon.com), and I really enjoyed it. I’m married to gel eyeliner. I love the ease of application, the staying power, the control. But my wandering eyes saw the Laura Mercier Graphic Liquid Eyeliner and I knew I had to try it. I’d seen her products in Sephora and the department store, and I knew her products were sought after. I couldn’t help myself; I just had to try it.
The pigmentation of this eyeliner is amazing. It goes on glossy black and dries with the same intense color. I only needed one coat to give me the look I wanted. This is not one of those eyeliners you will have to go over several times to get it to show up. The quality is amazing.
I tried this eyeliner three times before commenting on the durability. I am going to be honest. The first two times I used it, it flaked on me. Part of me wants to chalk it up to my extremely oily eyelids, the fact that I used make up remover right before applying it, or my terrible history with application of eyeliners, but alas I’m not sure. The third time I applied it, it did not flake on me at all. So, I’ll say that in ideal conditions, it stays, but it’s doesn’t quite have the staying power I’d hoped for.
The eyeliner applies glossy and wet, but dries with a matte finish. The texture is nice. It is easy to use because it is not runny or watery. It’s a liquid but it has the consistency of a gel pen. But don’t be fooled, this is not a gel eyeliner. It takes about thirty seconds for the eyeliner to dry so you have to be mindful of that when curling your eyelashes or applying mascara.
Bottom Line: 9/10
I really like Laura Mercier Graphic Liquid. It has gorgeous, dark pigmentation and it’s a great consistency. The staying power is questionable, but I think it works well enough to make it a worthwhile product. I could definitely see myself adding it to my makeup collection. I’ve even considered giving less of my attention to gel eyeliner and revisiting liquid eyeliner after trying this.
