What are the Best Eye-Lifting Treatments?

Share Article

If the eyes are the windows to the soul, then we certainly have enough “window treatments” — we dress them up with liner, change their color with eyeshadow and colored contacts, and of course try to de-puff, anti-wrinkle, and lift them.

Lately, I’ve found that more and more companies are interested in lifting the upper eyelid rather than just the lower lid. To that extent, I’ve found two great products — one because I work with one of my favorite companies, AminoGenesis, regularly, and another because I am always on the lookout for the latest products and Murad’s Eye Lift Firming Treatment popped up. So here we go!

AminoGenesis EYE Control Lid Lifting and Dark Circle Serum

The first cream I’ve uncovered designed for the upper eyelids, coming from one of my all-time favorite brands, is almost too good to be true. I love applying it for the slight temporary eyelid lift, owing to the DDD, but I also appreciate the long term anti-glycation (i.e., anti-sagging) effects of Albizia julibrissin and Darutoside over time.

When I apply AminoGenesis EYE Control Lid Lifting and Dark Circle Serum, I like to get it between the crease of my brow bone and upper eyelid. I rub it in for 10-15 seconds, and the DDD creates this slight appearance of a “lift” (see below).

In case you’re wondering if it’s safe, DDD has been found to be safe in concentrations up to 53% (International Journal of Toxicology, 2003). So you’re absolutely fine with AminoGenesis EYE Control Lid Lifting and Dark Circle Serum.

Murad Eye Lift Firming Treatment

Unlike the AminoGenesis product, the Murad Eye Lifting Treatment is more of a “filler” than a “lift.”

Hyaluronic acid is like the ant of skin care: Hyaluronic acid is able to bind moisture in up to 1,000 times its own weight when topically applied to the skin (Skin Pharmacology and Physiology, 2004). Unlike some moisturizing factors, which can suck moisture up from the skin and actually dry your skin out in low humidity conditions, hyaluronic acid works well in both high and low humidity conditions (In-Cosmetics).

Hyaluronic acid also helps for the skin to heal after injury (American Journal of Clinical Dermatology2005; Biologicals2011). That might be, in part, because it’s a free-radical scavenger that could be helpful in preventing free-radical damage to the skin (International Journal of Pharmaceutics2003). In a product like Murad Eye Lift Firming Treatment, hyaluronic acid gives the product a smooth, “gliding” texture, and gently plumps up the skin and temporarily (slightly) fills in fine lines and wrinkles.

However, I don’t find that it has as much of a “lifting” as a “filling” effect.

Ingredients in Murad Eye Lifting Treatment: Hyaluronic Acid Spheres, Hyaluronic Acid, Immediate Skin Firming Polymer, Isolated / Purified Active Molecule from Oat Kernel Extract, Myrtle Extract, NMF Replenishing Cocktail, Vitamin E, Zinc.

Bottom Line

My favorite eye-lifting product is AminoGenesis EYE Control Lid Lifting and Dark Circle Serum, with DDD in it to instantly lift eyelids, and Albizia julibrissin to help control eyelids from drooping further over time.

I also like Murad Eye Lifting Treatment, but not for lifting, rather for skin plumping or firming.
