bliss Fat Girl Slim Review

Reviews, Skin Care

Oh, the plights of being a girl:  We love to eat tasty things (we’re only human, after all), but then we wish the effects were as easy to get rid of as popping a pill or applying a cream.  bliss Fat Girl Slim plays on our wishes to get rid of cellulite with its inclusion of QuSome®—encapsulated caffeine.

The crazy part is science suggests this may work.  When the theophyllines in caffeine were applied to human skin samples regularly for two months, they were able to diffuse through the skin (Journal of Investigative Dermatology, 1990).   Once theophyllines reach fat cells, they dehydrate them, making them shrink in size and appear less visible (Vanderbilt University, 2006).  The effect may last for a few hours.

A few caveats

Before you run out and start buying bliss Fat Girl Slim in bulk, there are a few things to keep in mind.  First of all, bliss Fat Girl Slim (and any other product with caffeine) is a temporary solution, not a long-term fix.  It has been demonstrated theophyllines have no effect on long-term weight loss or resting energy expenditure (International Journal of Obesity and Related Metabolic Disorders, 1993).

Second, bliss Fat Girl Slim is most likely to work for relatively thin women who have mild to moderate amounts of cellulite.  Although the mechanism by which cellulite forms has yet to be clearly defined, it is known that cellulite is like “trapped fat” under a matrix of skin.  If you picture a grid with Play-Doh rolled up under it, some blocks will appear raised due to irregular bumps of material (i.e., fat).  Other blocks will appear raised simply because the grid itself is not weakened or not thick enough (i.e., skin).   In either case, the less cellulite you have, the better bliss Fat Girl Slim is likely to work.

Use and Opinions

bliss Fat Girl Slim has a rather thick consistency due to its high concentration of triglycerides, but absorbs into the skin well, provided that you use a small amount.  bliss Fat Girl Slim leaves the skin feeling surprisingly soft and smooth, so it’s a great nighttime moisturizer.  (Wear it with cotton pants in the winter, and wake up to even more incredible skin!)

My biggest qualm with using bliss Fat Girl Slim is that it smells like menthol or mint, which reminds me more of Vicks VapoRub and winter nights with the flu rather than a lotion I would want to apply before going to the beach, but that’s just me.

Bottom Line

If you have mild to moderate amounts of cellulite, you will be able to notice a difference in the appearance of your cellulite using bliss Fat Girl Slim if your cellulite is due to excess fat cells, because theophyllines will temporarily shrink your fat cells.  If, however, your cellulite is due to thin or weakened skin, it is less likely bliss Fat Girl Slim will help you.

bliss Fat Girl Slim also leaves your skin feeling softer than typical moisturizers, and absorbs into the skin relatively quickly.  If you don’t mind the menthol/mint smell in the summer, bliss Fat Girl Slim is a great way to reduce the appearance of dimpling while making you legs feel soft and smooth.   I’ll go ahead and give this one a solid 8/10 (High concentration of proven effective ingredients: 3/3.  Unique formulation or new technology: 3/3.  Value for the money: 2/3.  Sunscreen: 0/1).
