One of my first beauty products, when I was a teenager, was the original Estee Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant & UV Defense Moisturizer. It smelled glorious, like a delightful mix of green tea, with the ever-so-soft flutter of floral extracts. It was the kind of cream College Nicki was tempted to use as a body lotion before a fancy date, because it smelled that good.
That said, some things haven’t changed. Estee Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant & UV Defense SPF 50 still has the same beautiful fragrance and antioxidant-rich ingredients as the original, plus adds in a really nice element for skin care fanatics: a sunscreen with a whopping SPF of 50.
The issue here is that Estee Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant & UV Defense SPF 50 comes in a 1.0 oz bottle, and you need to apply approximately a quarter teaspoon, or about 0.04 ounces, of product to get the SPF listed on the bottle. That means one 1 oz bottle has only 25 applications. I mention this not because it’s atypical for cosmetics and skin care companies to issue products that only have about a month’s worth of applications, but because it is common for people to make a bottle of sunscreen last an entire summer. If you do that, you’re basically getting SPF 15 or lower — not worth it!
However, I do love that Estee Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant & UV Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50 is ultra lightweight, drinks into the skin quickly, and wears beautifully under makeup. Any day that I’m now on a daytime date with my husband, or even running errands with him on a random Saturday, I’ll use this and it is amazing. (Far better cosmetically than the usual SPF 100 zinc oxide formula I use)! That said, are the barley, wheat germ, rice bran, rice extract, rosemary, grape seed and ergothioniene in this product superior to the concentrated vitamin CE serums out there? No, I don’t think so. But I do love the idea of applying Estee Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant & UV Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50 over a concentrated vitamin CE serum. It’s beautiful, antioxidant-rich, and feels great on the skin. More of a preventative product than anything else, but I absolutely love it.
