Like so many other busy men and women in this country, I’ve just been rushing, rushing, rushing all this week.

Fortunately, I’m enjoying it.  I’m actually having the time of my life professionally – I have our time-release concentrated retinol ready to go (now debuting August 16, sorry for the delay), and we’ve been working round-the-clock on building tools to make FutureDerm better.  Thanks to our survey, it’s been made clear that we need a better look, a site that is easier to navigate, and far more product reviews.  We hear you loud and clear – and we’re on it.  🙂  [To enter the $100 Sephora gift card giveaway, please fill out our survey here.]

Still, even though I’m absolutely loving what I do, I’m trying to remember to stop and smell the roses outside of work every once in a while too.  For instance, my dogs like riding in the car, so I try to make it a point to have Mommy-Doggy Date Day once per week, where we go to Petco.  If weather permits, we’ll go have an outdoor lunch too, which is pretty entertaining since my Yorkie (Emmie) likes to bark at everyone and my Shih-Poo (Pookie) is scared of everyone and sits on my lap the entire time.

My Yorkie, Emmie, likes to hang her head out the car window. And yes, she is a big Yorkie; I fed her all these dog vitamins when she was a puppy, and apparently this is what happens. I’m glad I did it, though – she’s quite sturdy. Can’t be entirely sure it’s the vitamins, but…:-)

Lately I’ve also been quite interested in making over my appearance.  I *might* try out a video blog this summer, which has made me more nitpicky about the way that I look.  For instance, I’ve gained 15 pounds in the past 5 years.  What can I say – even though I know white bread, flour, sugar, and pasta are bad for me, simple carbs have been a lifestyle for me for a long time – especially when they’re fried! – and it’s time to do something about that.  I signed up for a gym membership, started tracking meals in My Fitness Pal on my iPhone, and am looking into more stringent diet regimens.  I’ll write more on that later, once I have something going worth talking about :-)…

But, basically, life is good.  Great, even.  I’m really happy and grateful for what I am doing in my life right now.  I think the only thing missing is that I want to get to a place where we have so much abundance we can give more to others – more time, more money, more effort.   I think it’s a little tacky to talk about charitable donations and that sort of thing, unless you’re doing so to inspire others to give as well, but let’s just say I’d really like to get to a place where I was able to do more.  A lot more.

  • @DRTVrMoi – Thanks for the suggestion! I love suggestions! We actually started a forum, but we will be revamping it as it grows. Please see the bottom of the sidebar (the very bottom)! I’m also so glad that you like the blog. As I go along, it becomes harder and harder to remind myself that I must do the necessary research – after five years of this, sometimes I just want to say what I think off the top of my head rather than continuing to do all of the research required. But, truth be told, I know that the research is of the utmost value to the readers, and your comments keep me going 🙂

  • @Kath- I tried giving up carbs in 2009 – I did a modified Dukan Diet. I ate so much cheese in two days that my stomach swelled up like a balloon. Surprisingly, I was lighter scale-wise, but it was not comfortable or sustainable. Apparently, I lose weight fast when I give up carbs, but it’s just not for me…Thanks for the compliment on the puppies! They are my children with fur.

Topics allow folks to drill down their interests/concerns with like-minded others while allowing you to see what’s trending. It’s great fodder for future blog coverage.
