An homage to Givenchy’s early days when fashion and cinema were intertwined, Very Irrésistible Givenchy, unites the elegant tradition of French style with the energy and pop-culture pizzazz of American film. Bursting with roses and infused with star anise, and verbena leaf, Very Irrésistible Givenchy is a fresh departure from the traditional floral fragrance.
Very Irrésistible Givenchy Notes
Centifolia Rose, Peony Rose, Fantasia Rose, Passion Rose, Emotion Rose, Verbena Leaf, Star Anise
Centifolia rosesare particular to the French city of Grasse, known as the perfume capital of the world. It is widely cultivated for its singular fragrance—clear and sweet, with light notes of honey. The flowers are commercially harvested for the production of rose oil, which is commonly used in perfumery. It’s an absolutely beautiful rose, sometimes referred to as the cabbage rose
The peony is named after Paeon, a student of Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine and healing. Asclepius became jealous of his pupil; Zeus saved Paeon from the wrath of Asclepius by turning him into the peony flower.
Originally indigenous to Chile, verbena (Verbena Officinalis) has been cultivated for centuries in Provence and throughout the Mediterranean. The fresh scent of Verbena actually comes from its leaves, and crushing a few leaves in the hand is all it takes to release a wonderful, clean fragrance. Verbena is cherished for its natural soothing properties as well as it’s zesty citrus scent. It is a paradox of the senses: while cool and refreshing, it is also found to be warm, Stasoothing and inviting. Its paradoxical nature makes it wonderful as a fragrance (Loccitane.com)Star Anise

Personal Use and Experience
I stopped by a local department store to sample some perfumes and this beautful bottle caught my eye. I’m a sucker for the color purple…
Did you notice that the top 5 notes of this fragrance are roses? I had researched the notes before I actually used the sample and was a bit worried based on that, but I have been pleasantly surprised by this very sensual perfume. I have a bad rose perfume experience in my past (Tea Rose) — now I am not knocking it if you like this fragrance — but I had a friend whose mother tended to be of the opinion that if a little perfume was nice then a lot was even more nice…ugh… and her perfume of choice was Tea Rose. She wore it like a coat — it had permiated her house and car. So… based on that negative past experience I am somewhat gun shy when it comes to rose scented perfumes. Thankfully, this perfume takes rose in a whole other direction. No old lady perfume here- this scent is sexy!
Balancing the multitude of roses blending together for a very floral background are the light and refreshing nature of the verbena, spiked with the pungent spiciness of the star anise. It is an unusal fragrance, very unique but it comes across smooth, and seductive. My husband (my tester) was very taken by this scent… he inhaled deeply at the crook of my arm, then moved in for a nibble and I immediately knew he found this to be as sexy as I felt it was!
This is a powerful scent, be wary- you will be noticed and perhaps followed — this is not a scent to wear if you want to be in the background. And because all of the notes in this scent are powerful, it makes for a strongly scented perfume — meaning a little goes a long way. I think this is best suited for nights out — I think it’s a little too sensual for the office. The bottle will last a long time because its highly concentrated and the scent lasts a long time — wear time of about 6-8 hours.

Dispose of any unused perfume after one year, as oxygen in the bottle will cause oxidation, which can alter the perfume’s character. Keep perfume in a dry and cool place, and keep any opened perfume bottle stored within a box to extend its shelf life.
