Today I’m super stoked to be giving away free 0.15 oz. size samples of two of my favorite products, Apothederm Firming Serum and Apothederm Stretch Mark Cream.

Apothederm Firming Serum

Apothederm Firming Serum

Apothederm Firming Serum is clinically proven to help aid the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin sagging, and its peptides may help tp prevent these from forming in the first place.

Patented by Helix BioMedix Inc., palmitoyl hexapeptide-14 is a relatively new and rare compound in skin care and cosmetics. Designed to mimic an innate immunity peptide, palmitoyl hexapeptide-14 may stimulate cell migration, collagen synthesis, and fibroblast proliferation and scaffolding (Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2009).

Another ingredient, thermus ferment may have promise in the treatment of dry skin in retaining skin’s moisture and binding to additional moisture from the environment (Clinics in Dermatology, 2009).

The serum spreads evenly and smoothly, and a little goes a long way: two squirts was enough for my face, neck, and decolletage. It was slightly hydrating on my normal skin, and the hydration is enough for those with normal to oily skin to forego moisturizer, whereas those with normal to oily dry skin may still wish to apply a moisturizer over top. The consistency is light-medium in weight, slightly creamy for a serum, with glycerin (a natural humectant) drawing in moisture from the environment.

Apothederm Stretch Mark Cream

Apothederm Stretch Mark Cream

This is a golden product for stretch marks! Apothederm Stretch Mark Cream contains a plethora of great ingredients to prevent and reduce the appearance of stretch marks, including licorice root extract, shea butter, heptapeptide-7, and sodium hyaluronate.

Licorice does in fact lighten the skin, via its active component, glabridin. In varied studies, glabridin demonstrates skin-lightening properties similar to hydroquinone (HQ), interfering with the same enzyme responsible for melanin (skin pigment) formation, tyrosinase (Pigment Cell Research).

Apothederm Stretch Mark Cream is a medium-to-thick white cream. It glides across the skin well and absorbs fairly well, within 5-10 seconds or so, depending on how much you apply. It does not have a scent. It leaves the skin feeling more hydrated and smoother, but not sticky or tacky at all. It is suitable for use during the day, under a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen on exposed areas, as well as at night. I especially love it before bed, under 100% cotton pajamas, which helps the product sink in without sticking to it.
