Keradigm Labs Dry and Oily Skin Kits Review

Share Article

Oily and blemish-prone skin can be difficult for even the most skilled dermatologists to treat. When a breakout occurs, the oil glands go into overdrive.  The excess sebum makes a perfect environment for bacteria, pore-clogging, and inflammation, resulting as blemishes, papules or cysts.

Now Keradigm Labs has developed the new Reclarx Oily Skin Kit, a 4 step system developed for thick, oily skin and skin with clogged pores. Available only from dermatologists, the Reclarx Oily Skin Kit delivers hydration and anti-aging ingredients designed for oily skin, together with many different acids, extracts, and anti-inflammatories proven to help breakouts. Using these key acids, extracts, and moisturizers not only treats blemishes, but gives the skin anti-aging benefits while treating blemish outbreaks without the dryness, redness, and irritation associated with other treatments.

The Reclarx Oily Skin Kit is specially formulated to deliver powerful anti-aging and blemish defying ingredients that leave skin looking young and fresh. Unlike other products on the market, it’s free of benzoyl peroxide, so it treats inflammation and is non-irritating to the skin.

Step 1:  Reclarx Priming Cleanser

The Reclarx Priming Cleanser is an oil-free cleanser that washes away pore clogging impurities without disturbing the skin’s natural barrier function. This preps the skin for further treatment. The Reclarx Priming Cleanser also introduces the skin to antiviral and anti-bacterial ingredients, which help aid with breakouts. Key ingredients include:

Soothing Chamomile

In research studies, chamomile has been shown to reduce blemish scars and blackheads (Research Journal of Medicinal Plants, 2011). Chamomile is so soothing and healing in part because it is a natural source of α-bisabolol, a substance that promotes wound healing and exhibits anti-inflammatory activity (Journal of the American Oil Chemists’ Society, 2010).

Antioxidant, Antibacterial Polyporus Umbellatus (Mushroom) Extract

The Polyporus Umbellatus mushroom has been shown in numerous studies to exhibit significant antibacterial activity. In fact, the bacterium responsible for malarium, Plasmodium falciparum, was found to be defeated by treatment with Polyporus Umbellatus mushroom extract (Journal of Herbs, Spices, and Medicinal Plants, 2000; Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, 2005).

Vitamin C and Vitamin E Network Antioxidants

Together, these ingredients help to make Reclarx Priming Cleanser a superior non-drying cleanser that cleanses pore-clogging impurities without disturbing the skin’s natural barrier function.

Ingredients: Water, Propylene Glycol, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Oil, Dimethicone Copolyol, Ethoxydiglycol, Saponaria Officinalis Extract, Cyanopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum, Xanthan Gum, Primula Veris Extract, Urea, Allantoin, Polyporus Umbellatus (Mushroom) Extract, Methylparaben, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Citric Acid, Blue 1 (Cl 42090), Yellow 11 (Cl 47000).

Step 2: Reclarx Clarifying Solution

The Reclarx Transforming Solution offers anti-inflammatory, brightening, and exfoliating agents to the skin. These highly potent ingredients purify and sooth the skin, even out its complexion, and remove dead skin cells to encourage a healthy cellular renewal rate. Key ingredients include:

Malic Acid —  A Natural Anti-Aging Ingredient

Naturally derived from apples, malic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that is known for decreasing signs of aging.

At least one study has found that a combination of malic acid and other AHAs increased collagen production over time (Journal of Dermatology).

Malic acid is most effective when used in conjunction with other AHAs, like mandelic acid: the International Journal of Skin Science found that malic acid is less effective than other alpha hydroxy acids, but malic acid becomes much more potent in combination with other AHAs (like the mandelic acid in the Reclarx Transforming Solution).

When used in conjunction with other AHAs (like mandelic acid), studies show malic acid treats skin roughness, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation.

Malic Acid Skin Care

Mandelic Acid Refines the Skin; Treats Blemishes Better than Glycolic Acid

Mandelic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid. It is naturally found in almonds. When applied to the skin, mandelic acid has been shown to be a potent antioxidant in the skin that may help stave off signs of aging like fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots (Tetrahedron). A review in Clinics in Dermatology further found that regular treatment with mandelic acid takes down skin roughness and fine lines.

Studies have also shown that mixtures of mandelic acid and salicylic acid are more effective than glycolic acid in treating blemishes and scarring after outbreaks (Dermatology, 2011).

How Salicylic Acid Works

Ingredients: Denatured Alcohol, Water, Ethoxydiglycol, Madelic Acid, Malic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Triethanolamin, Coleus Forskohlii Oil, Azelaic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Phytica Acid, Gluconolactone, Sodium Benzoate

Step 3:  Reclarx Correcting Complex

Reclarx Correcting Complex is a multi-action treatment cream specially formulated for oily, thick, and blemish-prone skin. Unlike many blemish treatments on the market, Reclarx Correcting Complex treats oily skin and signs of aging effectively by injecting the skin with anti-inflammatory, brightening, and hydrating agents. These agents purify the skin by evening out post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) and restoring optimal hydration at the cellular level. This also reduces patients’ needs for additional hyperpigmentation (PIH) skin care.

Azelaic acid is a non-controversial alternative to hydroquinone for patients

Azelaic acid is a bleaching agent traditionally used in dermatology in alternating four-month cycles with hydroquinone (Cosmetic Dermatology). It has been recommended for hyperpigmentation (PIH), as well as breakouts, which makes it a perfect addition to the Reclarx Purifying Corrector.

Azelaic acid has measurable effects against hyperpigmentation. According to a double-blind study in the International Journal of Dermatology, over the treatment period (24 weeks), a 20% azelaic acid cream yielded 65% good or excellent results. In fact, 20% azelaic acid had “no significant treatment differences” observed when compared to 4% hydroquinone (the prescription level) with regard to overall rating, reduction in lesion size, and pigmentary intensity. Side effects, such as allergic sensitization or exogenous ochronosis (associated with hydroquinone) were not observed with 20% azelaic acid.

Coleus Forskohlii Oil is soothing and hydrating to the skin

Coleus Forskohlii Oil belongs to a natural family of mints and lavenders (Journal of Medicinal Plant, 2012). In traditional Ayurvedic medicine, Coleus forskohlii has been used for a variety of ailments, including skin disorders. In laboratory studies, Coleus forskohlii has been found to be effective for a variety of antibacterial treatments, including the P. acnes bacterium associated with the development of blemishes (Majeed and Badmaev). Researchers have also shown the combination of Coleus forskohlii and other essential oils to be more effective than antimicrobial clindamycin in fighting breakouts associated with P. acnes (Majeed and Prakesh).

Ingredients: Denatured Alcohol, Water, Ethoxydiglycol, Mandelic Acid, Malic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Triethanolamin, Coleus Forskohlii Oil, Azelaic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Phytica Acid, Gluconolactone, Sodium Benzoate

Step 4: Reclarx Moisture Shield SPF 15

Reclarx Moisture Shield SPF 15 is a superior broad-spectrum sunscreen for UVA/UVB protection. A light, hydrating cream that introduces powerful exfoliating and rejuvenating agents to the skin, Reclarx Moisture Shield SPF 15 shields the skin from the signs of aging associated with UV damage, while providing ingredients that will reduce excessive sebum levels in the skin.

Jojoba Signals for the Skin to Stop Producing Excess Sebum

Dry skin functions best when it is treated with oils containing fatty acids with a high concentration of medium-to-long chain hydrocarbons. In this manner, these oils will function as emollients, which increase the amount of moisture skin is capable of holding while binding to water and oils within the skin.

Jojoba oil is one such oil. A study in the Journal of Dermatological Science demonstrates regular use of jojoba oil over four weeks will increase skin’s retention of moisture in the stratum corneum, as measured by base-level swelling. Jojoba oil can also help to increase the penetration of other ingredients into the skin, something that may be useful for other anti-blemish treatments (Journal of the American Oil Chemists’ Society, 1984).

Salicylic Acid Refines the Skin, Increases Cellular Turnover

Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid that is used to cleanse and exfoliate the skin. Salicylic acid has also been widely reported by dermatologists to improve signs of aging including wrinkling, roughness, and mottled pigmentation of photodamaged skin with at least 6 months of daily application.

By including salicylic acid in Reclarx Moisture Shield SPF 15 with a moderate concentration, Reclarx Moisture Shield SPF 15 will help to improve the appearance of blemishes, fine lines, and wrinkles, but without drying out the skin like most 2% salicylic acid treatments. It is just one more reason why Reclarx Moisture Shield SPF 15 is the top choice of dermatologists who have tried it.

With more peer-reviewed scientific research behind its formulation than any other, the Reclarx Oily Skin Kit is an ideal solution for your patients who suffer from both oily skin and breakouts. Containing a combination of anti-inflammatory, brightening and exfoliating agents for the skin, the Reclarx Oily Skin Kit utilizes key acids, extracts, and moisturizers in this system to treat blemishes, grant the skin anti-aging benefits, and ameliorate blemish outbreaks without the unregulated reflexive oil production, redness, and irritation associated with other treatments.

Reclarx Dry Skin Kit

Dry skin and breakouts are not uncommon to see together. Many skin care and cosmetics companies ignore this fact, instead assuming that breakouts and oily skin always go hand-in-hand. But dryness of the skin has more to do with the skin’s natural healthy oil production and retention, whereas blemishes come from bacterial overproduction and excessive sebum — not healthy natural skin oils. What’s more, many blemish systems can give patients dry skin by containing high concentrations of drying acids, alcohols, and astringents.

Reclarx Dry Skin Kit

Now Keradigm Labs has developed the new Reclarx Dry Skin Kit, a 4 step system developed for thin, dry, and irritated skin. Available only from dermatologists, the Reclarx Dry Skin Kit delivers hydration and anti-aging ingredients designed for dry skin, together with key non-drying acids, extracts, and anti-inflammatories proven to help treat breakouts. Using these key acids, extracts, and moisturizers not only treats blemishes, but gives the skin anti-aging benefits while treating blemish outbreaks without the dryness, redness, and irritation associated with other treatments.

The Reclarx Dry Skin Kit is specially formulated to deliver powerful anti-aging and blemish defying ingredients that leave skin looking young and fresh. Unlike other products on the market, it’s free of benzoyl peroxide, so it treats inflammation and is non-irritating to the skin.

Step 1:  Reclarx Priming Cleanser

Also seen in the Reclarx Oily Skin Kit, the Reclarx Priming Cleanser is a non-drying cleanser that washes away pore clogging impurities without disturbing the skin’s natural barrier function. This preps the skin for further treatment. The Reclarx Priming Cleanser also introduces the skin to antiviral and anti-bacterial ingredients, which help aid with blemishes. Key ingredients include soothing chamomile and antioxidant, antibacterial Polyporus Umbellatus (Mushroom) Extract.

Step 2: Reclarx Transforming Solution

The Reclarx Transforming Solution offers anti-inflammatory, brightening, and exfoliating agents to the skin. These highly potent ingredients purify and sooth the skin, even out its complexion and remove dead skin cells to encourage a healthy cellular renewal rate. Key ingredients include:

Glycolic Acid Moisturizes and Exfoliates

Glycolic acid is a genius ingredient for treating dry skin and blemishes, because it is one of the only ingredients in the world that acts as both a moisturizer and an exfoliator.

It is little-known, but glycolic acid increases the skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid, which can hold 1000 times its weight in water, thus making glycolic acid a humectant. On the other hand, glycolic acid exfoliates by increasing the separation of skin cells, resulting in more well-exfoliated skin (Skin Therapy Letter)!

glycolic acid

Glycolic acid is the smallest of the alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and its results can be seen near instantly. As for long-term benefits, both in vitro and in vivo tests have shown it to increase collagen production, fibroblast proliferation, and cell turnover rates (Dermatologic Surgery). Glycolic acid is an excellent addition to the Reclarx Transforming Solution, simultaneously hydrating dry skin and exfoliating blemish lesions.

Gluconolactone is a Healthy Alternative to Benzoyl Peroxide

Gluconolactone is a new form of hydroxy acid. You may have heard of alpha hydroxy acids, or AHAs, which include glycolic acid, lactic acid, and azelaic acid. Instead, gluconolactone is a polyhydroxy acid, or PHA. Early studies show PHAs give excellent results for blemishes, fine lines, wrinkles, and skin sagging — all without irritation (Cutis, 2004).

Recent studies have shown gluconolactone has been shown to be just as effective as benzoyl peroxide (BP) at reducing blemish lesions, without the irritation (Australasian Journal of Dermatology, 1992). This is great because, if your patients can avoid benzoyl peroxide for dermatological applications, they should. No one is certain how benzoyl peroxide works, but it is widely believed that benzoyl peroxide operates by generating harmful free radical generating species (ROS) that can age the skin prematurely.

Another benefit to PHAs like gluconolactone is that they provide additional hydration due to the additional hydroxyl groups, which can attract more water as humectants. Gluconolactone has also been shown to work well with other proven ingredients such as other AHAs, retinoids like tretinoin, and skin-lightening ingredients like hydroquinone (Cutis, 2004).

How Humectant Works

Ingredients: Water, Denatured Alcohol, Glycolic Acid, Phytic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Gluconolactone, Sodium Benzoate, Salicylic Acid, Propandiol, Citric Acid, Azelaic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate

Step 3:  Reclarx Purifying Corrector

Reclarx Purifying Corrector is a multi-action treatment cream specially formulated for dry, thin, and blemish-prone skin. Unlike many blemish treatments on the market, Reclarx Purifying Corrector treats dry skin and signs of aging effectively by injecting the skin with anti-inflammatory, brightening, and hydrating agents.

It has been recommended for hyperpigmentation (PIH), as well as blemishes, which makes it a perfect addition to the Reclarx Purifying Corrector.

Azelaic acid has measurable effects against hyperpigmentation. According to adouble-blind study in the International Journal of Dermatology, over the treatment period (24 weeks), a 20% azelaic acid cream yielded 65% good or excellent results.

Porphyridium Cruentum Extract is soothing and hydrating to the skin

Porphyridium Cruentum Extract has been found to contain the two anti-inflammatory fatty acids
eicosapentaenoic (20:5n-3) and arachidonic acids (Bioseparation, 1998). Since fatty acids have been found to be depleted in those with dry and breakout-prone skin (Archives of Dermatology, 1996), using them for what is perhaps the first time in the Reclarx Purifying Corrector will prove useful in ameliorating the skin of patients with both dry skin and blemishes.

Ingredients: Water, Azelaic Acid, Peg-40 Stearate SE, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Esters, Caprylic Triglycerides, Phenoxyethanol and Caprylyl Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Porphyridium Cruentum Extract

Step 4: Reclarx Moisture Shield SPF 15

Reclarx Moisture Shield SPF 15 also makes an appearance in the Reclarx Oily Skin kit and is a superior broad-spectrum sunscreen for UVA/UVB protection. A light, hydrating cream that introduces powerful exfoliating and rejuvenating agents to the skin, Reclarx Moisture Shield SPF 15 shields the skin from the signs of aging associated with UV damage, while providing ingredients that will reduce excessive sebum levels in the skin like jojoba oil and salicylic acid.
