.Perricone MD No Concealer Concealer is one of those innovative products I wish I had thought of first. Like Neutrogena Cosmetics, Perricone MD Cosmetics are designed to treat your skin *and* make your skin look better with each use. And seriously, isn’t that the very definition of “the best of both worlds?”

The secret behind Perricone MD No Concealer Concealer is a blend of tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate and vitamin E, both in fair concentration. Everyone knows I love this — tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate has been shown to be more efficient in entering skin cells than L-ascorbic acid (Clinics in Dermatology) and, like magnesium ascorbyl palmitate, it penetrates the skin more deeply than L-ascorbic acid(Dermatologic Surgery). That’s important, because, well, your skin’s production machinery is found in the deepest layers.

.Perricone MD No Concealer Concealer also contains such a high concentration of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide that it gives an SPF of 35. This part makes me a little less comfortable — unless you’re putting the concealer exclusively on dark spots, dark circles, and other melanin-rich areas you’d rather conceal, you might end up with a tiger-stripe effect if you use the product frequently. For instance, I regularly put concealer between my eyes and on the center of my chin, but I don’t necessarily want for those areas to get more sun protection (and eventually appear lighter) than the rest of my face. So think of this as a concealer for dark spots, dark circles — kind of like a gradual lightening agent and concealer. That said, also use sunscreen all over your face first!

The peachy color isn’t my favorite, and with only six light to medium hues, this unfortunately isn’t for everyone. (What is this, 1998?) That said, I have a feeling that a lot more shades will be launched if Perricone MD No Concealer Concealer flies off of the shelves.

It blends into the skin easily and well and has a medium-weight texture. Not too shiny, not too matte finish. Overall, I’m pretty happy with it, and I’ll be using it on dark spots and in a vertical stripe down the center of my nose through the summer!
