Pictured here is the product trio, which includes all three products currently in the Nuvosä lineup – Flawless Age Protection Toner, Reborn Wrinkle Shield Moisturizer, and Deep Wrinkle Remedy Resurfacer.
It seems everyday a new skin care brand hits the market, but many fail to impress. Nuvosä‘s anti-aging product trio ($149 at Nuvosä) certainly impresses. There’s emphasis on the ingredients and also what isn’t in the formula: Nuvosä anti-age products deliver results without any fillers, artificial colors, fragrance, or parabens. Their products are also 91% – 95% organic. Interestingly, aloe figures prominently in all 3 products.[Read More: Spotlight On: Aloe Vera]
Upon receiving my Nuvosä kit I was immediately impressed with the high-end, thoughtful packing. The products arrived beautifully presented and protected. But, as we know, it takes more than great packaging…
Flawless Age Protection Toner
Notice the well-designed plunge dispenser; simply place a cotton ball or cotton round on it and press once or twice…no mess and no wasting product!
Following your cleanser, the first step in the Nuvosä system is their Flawless Age Protection Toner ($30) which left me feeling fresh and squeaky clean with NO stinging or tightness. Odorless and colorless, Flawless is 95% organic and minimizes pores while restoring the skins natural pH balance. It is also chock full of anti-oxidants and moisturizing agents like:
This toner also contains tea tree essential oil, organic citrus, lemon, blueberry and cranberry extracts. Unfortunately, citrus oil is a known photosensitizer — so, if you use this product, be sure to wear a good daily sunscreen. I really enjoyed using this each morning (for 2 weeks) following my cleanser, but before I applied moisturizer.
Reborn Wrinkle Shield Moisturizer
Notice the air pump; the product is never exposed to air, which can oxidize ingredients. It also minimizes contamination because you aren’t dipping your finger in the product. I love this!
After toning, I applied Reborn Wrinkle Shield Moisturizer ($70) before I applied my makeup. A creamy, medium-weight consistency, this 91% organic moisturizer absorbed quickly and contains a host of hydrating and anti-aging ingredients. Just like the Flawless Toner, aloe is the first ingredient in this product, followed by:
- Organic Shea Butter (a recent study revealed Shea Butter recovers TEWL in the skin and more!).
- Organic Jojoba Oil (according to the Journal of the American Oil Chemists Society jojoba oil prevents water evaporation in the skin).
- Organic Rooibos Tea (shown in studies to be a potent free radical scavenger due to the presence of polyphenols).
DMAE, Hyaluronic Acid (attracts moisture from the atmosphere and gives volume to the skin) and Green Tea figure prominently here too. All of these ingredients indeed provide anti-aging results for the skin. My skin felt plump & dewy after use, and my makeup went on quite nicely.[Read More: Spotlight On: Green Tea]
Deep Wrinkle Remedy
Another plunge type dispenser that protects the product from both air and contamination. One pump is all you need! A second if you are applying to neck and décolleté.
Though not specifically marketed for night time use, while reviewing the Nuvosa skin care system I used Deep Wrinkle Remedy ($98) at night following cleansing & toning. My reason? I found this product left me feeling a bit tacky. In fact, Nuvosä recommends using their products in this order both day and night: toner, deep wrinkle remedy, reborn moisturizer. However, I couldn’t take all those layers, nor the tacky feel of Deep Wrinkle Remedy so I used it at night only.
Deep Wrinkle Remedy has a light-weight gel consistency and while it does a nice job of absorbing into the skin, as I said I was left with a slightly tacky feel. Here, Rose Distillate and Aloe figure prominently; they are the first two ingredients listed, followed by DMAE. And while DMAE has been shown to significantly improve skin firmness, it doesn’t have quite the same performance results on wrinkles. However, Deep Wrinkle Remedy does contain CoQ10 and Retinol Palmitate – which have proven wrinkle-reducing capabilities. However, without knowing the % of these ingredients found in the product it’s hard to say just how potent it is.
What I Didn’t Like
The Nuvosä website — full of marketing hype and gimmicks, the website reads like an infomercial and really turned me off.
I recommend Nuvosä skin care (despite their website). Their products are “clean”, effective and contain some terrific anti-aging ingredients. After 2 weeks of continuous use my skin felt hydrated, my skin tone was more even, and my pores were minimized (especially love that toner!). Also, my wrinkles looked plumped and smoothed after use, but I have not (yet) noticed any significant improvement in skin firmness.
I would love to know if any of our readers have tried Nuvosä yet? What has your experience been?
