Saturday Shopping with FutureDerm.com: Stella McCartney, Fendi, and More!

Share Article

When I was growing up, one of my favorite traditions was going to Saturday brunch and shopping at the mall with my mother and grandmother. (So fun!) So I’ve decided to resurrect some of that old childhood feeling with a new feature, Saturday Shopping! Here are some of the great items I’ve seen lately. Please note they will not all be related to skin care, hair care, or beauty products – hope you don’t mind! 🙂

Stella McCartney Limited-Edition Fashionable Fragrances, $52 each

These limited-edition fragrance bottles remind me of something my fashionable grandmother would have had on her dressing-table. Beautiful and delicate, they make an impact long after the fragrance is gone. Perfect for a gift!

Ann Taylor Color Block Pencil Skirt, $88

Color blocking is not only modern and fashionable, it also makes you look thinner. This Ann Taylor skirt in particular is genius, reducing the appearance of the waist, hips, and thighs while drawing attention to your legs, which are flattered by universally appealing inch-above-the-knee length. Fabulous with a wedge heel (as shown) for work or a stiletto heel for a special date. (Hint: Pair it with a strapless white square-neck tank for an hourglass shape and maintenance of the square lines!)

Burberry Ribbed Quilting Crossbody Bag, $1499

I’m obsessed with this Burberry Ribbed Quilting Crossbody Bag, for several reasons. First, the rich jewel tones in which it is offered – navy, burgundy, green, and gold – are right in line with what has been seen on the Fall 2011 runways. Second, it’s the perfect mix of classic and modern – the formal structured shape, brushed brass hardware, and detachable shoulder strap mix well with the modern contrast in color, defined stitching, ribbing, and high gloss finish. Lastly, it is all-leather, and the attention to detail is exquisite. As a longtime collector of designer handbags and shoes, I will tell you this is one investment piece that will go the distance in time as well as wear.

Claire’s Clip-In Faux Ponytail, $12.50

I remember thinking when I was a little girl I could just live at Claire’s. There was no place cooler! Now that I’m an adult, I still love perusing the tween/teen store now and then for their more pared-down, traditional items. One great recent find: these $12.50 clip-in hair extensions. Faux hair is currently selling for over $70 from brands like Ken Paves for Jessica Simpson, and while Claire’s version is not as high-quality, it’s perfect for the first-time clip-in hair user to see if it’s for her or not.

Fendi Superstar Leather Pumps, $550

Super-fashionable-for-fall beige color? Check. Dual platform (3/4″) and stacked (4 1/4″) heel? Check. Yet what makes these heels resonate with me is the subtle-yet-there-if-you-look Fendi logo emblazoned throughout the cork heel. It’s the best of luxury: Confidently adorned within reason, not out there screaming for attention. The perfect date night/special occasion heel, or a girls’ sophisticated night out shoe. Can’t say enough about it.

Bottom Line

I love my skin care and beauty products, but I am also passionate (as a hobby) about high fashion, with taste evenly mixed between traditional and modern, clean lines and purely feminine.
