With this post, we are excited to introduce our new guest writer, Katie Kuchenreuther!

The latest Twitter trend is giving “the science of beauty” a whole new meaning. Scientists are using the hashtag #reviewsforscience to review beauty products on Amazon and the results are pretty amazing.

Here’s what we learned:

According to scientist, clear nail polish is good for more than just keeping your manicure fresh. It can also be used to seal coverslips on microscope slides. As an added bonus it also comes in handy while trekking through a tropical rainforest.

You Catch More Ants With Lip Balm…

Whether you’re doing research or have some unwelcome guests in your home, according to this scientist Nivea Creme is great for keeping ants in one place.

Our Bathrooms Can Alternate as Fish Labs

Who knew our shower curtains could be so useful! According to this scientist they’re great for researching fish.

She also adds that tweezers are the solution to all of your fish brain related problems.

What I love so much about this trend is not only that it combines my two favorite things- science and beauty- but it also highlights the resourcefulness of scientists. If you have some time, definitely read through the thread. Who knows, who might pick up some tips to help with your next project.
