Shopping With FutureDerm: Kate Spade, Anthropologie, and More!

Share Article

Yesterday I went for a 3-mile hike at Ohio Pyle State Park with my boyfriend.  It was about 93 degrees and extremely humid, and it also rained midway through.  And, truth be told, I’m not in the best shape of my life either.  But sometimes it’s not what happens to you, it’s how you deal with it.  And we managed to have a good time, despite all of that.  (One method of dealing:  I joked that I was feeling “crabby pants” rather than actually being, well, crabby pants like I would have been a few years ago.)

Anyway, I mention this because I didn’t get my Saturday Shopping piece done on time (my apologies there).  So this week, it’s just “Shopping”.  I find myself drawn to bold, feminine, half-nerd/half-sophisticate, savvy-chic pieces:

1.)  Makeup For Ever Eyeliner Pencil ($18.47, Amazon.com).  I did a review of 10 eyeliners at Sephora this week, and this pencil was the clear winner.  It looks great when sharpened to a fine point, and to sleekly define a cat’s eye shape.

2.)  Anthropologie Slinky Flounced Skirt ($98.00, Anthropologie.com).  I absolutely adore this skirt.  First of all, the color is a muted blood red, and I’ve been reading everywhere that blood red is the color for fall.  Win!  Second, the shape is half-modern (with the frill on the bottom), half-Mad Men retro (with the fitted shape), which just makes me happy.  And last but not least, it works with colors like a muted purple (to make a bold statement) or black (to be more traditional).  Either way, a must-buy.

3.)  Lab-solutely Organized Desk Set ($24.99, ModCloth.com).  How cute is this?!  Maybe I’m too science geek for my own good, but I’m totally buying this for our FutureDerm office.  Too cute.

4.)  Rouge Coco Shine Chanel Lipcolor in #52 Fetiche ($24.99, Amazon.com).  The formula?  Divine, smooth, building.  The color?  Sheer, sleek, medium-pigmented.  Best for neutral or cool tones.  The result?  Ultra sophistication – particularly when paired with a pencil skirt, 3-inch heels, and your best smile.

5.)  Kate Spade Tudor City Large Debra Planner ($198.00, KateSpade.com).  In an age where everyone is Blackberry and iPhone-dependent, I find it liberating to write my thoughts down on actual paper.  I own this in black, and I am completely in love with it.  The manufacturing is high-quality and highly durable, and there are adorable anecdotes at every turn inside.  True story:  I left mine in the Dulles Airport in April, and I was so distraught my boyfriend drove me back the following week to retrieve it.  (Yes, I know he is a keeper and I am very lucky to have him).  Anyway, this planner is charming and a must-have for anyone else who loves paper products as much as I do.
