Sensitive skin is a common complaint in skin care and cosmetics. In fact, as many as 40% of women state that they have the condition, though actual numbers reported by dermatologists vary (Dermatitis, 1997; British Journal of Dermatology, 2001).
There are many ingredients out there designed to help soothe and treat sensitive skin, including:
- Green tea, white tea — Shown to be soothing in varied studies;
- Dragocalm® — A natural anti-irritant with anti-histamine properties (Prospector, 2014);
- Chamomile — A natural botanical shown to decrease skin (European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 1993).
However, Skinasensyl® is different. Unlike other agents that reduce the pain of red, irritated skin by reducing the inflammatory response, Skinasensyl® is a tetrapeptide that was developed to decrease the stimulation of the skin’s nerve endings, thus providing relief for overly sensitive skin. It truly provides a calming effect.
Skinasensyl® makes skin feel better
Our body’s nerve fibers react to various stimuli, such as temperature, stress, pollutants, and sunlight. In addition, factors like the ingestion of spicy food, caffeine, and dairy products, in addition to application of harsh agents to the skin, can result in redness and irritation.
In people with sensitive skin, these nerve fibers are activated much sooner and with much more intensity compared to people with what would be considered “normal” skin.
Skinasensyl® is like a mild anesthetic for the skin; it gently decreases the stimulation of nerve endings, resulting in skin that not only looks less reddened, but which also feels calmed and soothed.
What are the Best Products with Skinasensyl®?
My favorite products with Skinasensyl® are the Bel Mondo Beauty Masks. I’ve been using them religiously for the past three months, and they’re a great way to treat my skin with beneficial ingredients without risking irritation from adding yet another product to my regimen.
The masks are also made of premium-grade biocellulose, so they bind tightly to the skin, without getting any air pockets and missing portions of your skin, and infusing the maximum concentration of available ingredients into your skin. The biocellulose material also enables you to walk around and go about your business while wearing it, which is a good thing for us busy gals!

Best for Regular, Year-Round Use: Bel Mondo Beauty Anti-Aging Facial Sheet Masks ($45.00 for 4, BelMondoBeauty.com)
Winter months aside, my favorite mask overall is the Bel Mondo Beauty Anti-Aging Facial Sheet Mask ($45.00 for four, Belmondobeauty.com). The Bel Mondo Beauty Anti-Aging Facial Sheet Mask has a superior assortment of ingredients to other masks I’ve tried, including hydrating sodium hyaluronate and olive oil, skin-calming Skinasensyl®, skin-firming palmitoyl tri-peptide and palmitoyl hexapepide, skin-refining Syn-Tacks, and antioxidant vitamin E. It makes a profound difference in your skin every time you use it — it looks more hydrated and feels more firm in just one use!
I definitely recommend it as a special spa-like treatment for the skin; I love using mine in the bath after a long day!
Best for Irritated Skin: Bel Mondo Beauty Calming Facial Sheet Masks ($45.00 for 4, BelMondoBeauty.com)
I try a lot of products at FutureDerm, sometimes as many as three different serums and three different moisturizers in a single day. As a result, sometimes my skin gets really irritated.
That’s when I reach for the Bel Mondo Beauty Calming Facial Sheet Mask. This awesome mask soothes with Skinasensyl®, plant extracts, rice extract, green tea, allantoin, Caresoft, and soothing vitamin E. The result? Skin that not only looks more calm and soothed, but that feels better too!
Bottom Line
Sometimes I use too many products on my skin, especially in the harsh winter months. That’s why I look for Skinasensyl®, a relatively new peptide that temporarily dulls the nerve endings, so you don’t have as much pain and irritation. Currently, my favorite way to infuse Skinasensyl® into my regimen is with the Bel Mondo Beauty Sheet Masks!
