The 6 Grooming Habits that Make a Man Undateable – and Other Bookmark-Worthy Links

Share Article

As a beauty blogger, one of my favorite things to do in my spare time is to read — whether it be books, magazines, newspapers, or other blogs, reading just always seems to spark ideas for new material, even if it’s completely unrelated to beauty products or dermatology.  Today I had a more elaborate post planned, but I got pretty sick later in the day, so I decided to share some of the great links I’ve had bookmarked with my readers instead.  I hope you enjoy them!  And PS, I should be back in working order tomorrow, so check back for my own fresh content!

The 6 Grooming Habits that Make a Man Undateable, from one of my favorite beauty bloggers, Jeannine Morris (Beauty Sweet Spot)  – I imagine it’s hard for guys sometimes, because a lot of girls want to be nice and find it difficult to articulate what they like in a man physically when asked, leaving the scruffier sex without a lot of direction.  Luckily, there are beauty experts who write articles like this one to help the poor fellas along.

LED Eye Shadow, from another favorite beauty blogger, Annie Tomlin (Bella Sugar) – With many people’s style running towards the classic/traditional in Pittsburgh, I sometimes forget we’ve advanced from the twentieth century.  Annie’s coverage of this amusing artistic beauty statement definitely makes me think we’ve embarked on the second decade of the new millennium, and also when my dogs are going to start talking like George Jetson’s.

Which Heat Protection Hair Styling Products Actually Work?, from the genius bloggers at The Beauty Brains – A pair of cosmetic chemists discuss what protects your hair during heat styling and what doesn’t.  Spoiler:  Unless you’re using a product from Ouidad, it’s likely to be missing two of the three key ingredients.

Elle Magazine:  What Does it Mean When You Start Getting Botox? – I was a Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Sciences kid, which means I spent the summer I was seventeen with 89 other super-nerds, I mean, uh, good students…Anyway, this type of article always brings me back to those deep philosophical conversations we used to have, in the way only smart kids who actually know nothing about life can.   Awesome.  (Another note:  Elle has really thorough, informative beauty articles I highly recommend in general.  Check out their site, as well as in the “Health/Beauty/Fitness” section of each month’s magazine.)

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Picks for Organic and Natural Skin Care (goop.com)Love her or not, Gwyneth Paltrow is one of those women who always seems to have her act together.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen Gwynnie with a hair out of place, much less having food stuck in her teeth or throwing a phone at someone or (gasp!) having a face full of pimples.  I haven’t reviewed a lot of these products personally, and I will get to some of them soon.  In the meantime, however, I thought my readers might find it interesting to see what the superpowered Oscar winner-turned country singer-turned chef recommends for the skin.

Vogue‘s Picks for the Best Nail Polish Colors of Spring 2011I consider myself a stylish person, but let’s face it, I’ve been limiting my nail polish selection to the wall at my local Vietnamese-American nail salon.  These recommendations from runway models are fresh, inspiring, and definitely fun for anyone looking to change it up a little bit (or, technically, ten little nail bits).

Enjoy the links, and I’ll catch you tomorrow!
