Thinking about a Laser Treatment?

Share Article

Recently, I started considering laser treatments.

I’m about to turn 30 (tomorrow, actually!), and I will admit that it is freaking me out a little in terms of skin care. I want to stay on the cutting edge of treatments, but not be one of those women someday who has so much Botox and fillers that I am unrecognizable.

Adding a laser to the mix seems like a good idea. One of the most promising treatments I am currently considering is Aerolase.

According to the company, Aerolase lasers “provide practitioners with highly efficacious, versatile, and safe…Our lasers employ breakthrough technology which provides exceptionally high power in a unique pulse duration. Now the practitioner can perform treatments without the anesthetics, skin cooling, pain or pigmentary risk of the previous generation of lasers.”

Now that sounds awesome. Here’s what my science-minded audience also most likely would like to know:

What is Aerolase Used to Treat?

Clear+Brilliant Laser Review

The laser treatment may be used to treat any of the following:

  • Eradication or improvement of wrinkles (periocular fine lines, crow’s feet, smoke wrinkles)
  • Scar resurfacing (acne scars, burn scars)
  • Sun damage
  • Age spots and other cutaneous lesions
  • Pore reduction among other treatments.

What is the Advantage of Aerolase Over Other Lasers?

How Lasers Reduce Pore Size

The secret to Aerolase is the LightPod Neo 650-Microsecond 1064nm pulsed laser technology. This technology decreases the time of treatment, reduces pain, and drastically reduces the hyperpigmentation risk commonly associated with laser treatments, making it suitable for both dark and tan skin.

The Neo laser’s 650-microsecond pulse duration is shorter than the Thermal Relaxation Time of the skin tissue, so the energy passes through the skin quickly and does not overheat the melanin within the skin. When treating skin of color, this provides new levels of efficacy as well as safety by avoiding pigmentary risk.

Also, because skin cooling is not necessary during treatment, the handpiece of the Neo does not contact the skin – thereby reducing treatment time.

Bottom Line

Aerolase has an incredible laser treatment that I am considering for skin rejuvenation — if for nothing else than to maintain my skin’s current condition for as long as possible! With its short duration time, low pigmentation risk, reduction in pain versus other lasers, I’m definitely going to make this my first choice!
