Of all the creams, lotions, and potions I’ve tried for stretch marks (and believe me, I’ve tried a few!), my favorite thus far is Tony & Tina Stretch Mark Oil. This blend has 14 different oils, plus an additional four plant extracts, which are proven to help hydrate the skin.
I’ll admit I was skeptical at first about this working. I mean, I wanted for it to — not only because I’ve had terrible stretch marks since being pregnant and then giving birth in February, but also because the first lipstick I ever bought was from Tony & Tina. (For those of you who are curious, I was on vacation in Las Vegas, I was thirteen years old, and my mother said “go ahead” when I asked to buy it, so long as it was a sheer-ish, pinkish shade. I was so excited!)
That said, this has made a bigger difference than anything else I’ve tried on my stretch marks (see photos). I think it’s because of the mix of oils. Oils that have been proven in studies to increase the absorption of other ingredients into the skin. For better or worse (and in this case, for the better), essential oils have been shown to increase the penetration of other ingredients in the skin up to 30-fold (International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 1989; Drug Discovery Today, 2007).
In that case, I think that the mix of hydrators, coupled with the increase in absorption of antioxidants and hydrators into my skin, has really helped my stretch marks. At least, that’s my “science of beauty” theory. Tony & Tina also features aromatherapy and a clear quartz crystal that they company claims has been programmed to activate self-love. While this is a science of beauty blog and I don’t talk about aromatherapy or crystals or things like that, all I will say is, coupled with the science behind this product, the results speak for themselves, and I’ll be buying many bottles until my stretch marks fade completely!
