While the lovely ladies gliding down the red carpet may seem to be effortlessly beautiful, they’ve got a team of stylists behind them making sure they look their best from every angle.

At the Golden Globes, Amy Adams shined in gorgeous pastel hues that went luminously with the delicate “ballet pink” of her Marchesa gown while still giving her the right amount of color for balance. It was such a delicately pretty look that makeup artist Stephen Sollitto, and we want to give you the scoop on how to do it.

Stephen Sollitto used RèVive, Laura Mercier, and Dior products to give the start her gorgeous face for the awards ceremony.

First Is the Face

Adams_Globes_FoundationGood makeup starts with your skin looking as smooth and radiant as possible. Sollitto used RèVive Moisture Serum Extreme ($350, amazon.com) to make sure that Amy’s skin was soft and moisturized when she stepped out on the red carpet. He then topped it off with Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 ($19.50, amazon.com) — Oil Free.

It’s speaks to the star’s skin care regime that at 38, a tinted moisturizer was all Sollitto used to give her red-carpet-ready skin. You can almost certainly thank that SPF 20 — regularly sunscreen use can do a lot to keep skin looking young; especially given that the sun accounts for most of the extrinsic damage that makes skin look older.

Adams_Golbes_BlushTo give her an extra glow, he put Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour in Canyon ($22, amazon.com) to her cheekbones, and then used Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour in Oleander ($24, lauramercier.com) on the apples of her cheeks. A cream blush can have better sticking power in the heat and movement of a big night out.

Make Those Eyes Stand Out

Adams_Globes_EyeshadowSollitto started Amy’s eye makeup by using Laura Mercier Secret Concealer ($18.50, amazon.com) to mask any imperfections (we’ve all got ’em, right?). Next he used a series of gorgeous, but understated eyeshadows to make Amy’s eyes pop.

First was Laura Mercier Sateen Eye Colour in Sandstone ($22, lauramercier.com) for a natural color to start off the look. Then, to add definition and depth he used Laura Mercier Sequin Eye Color in Twinkling Star ($22, lauramercier.com). For the top of her lids and her lower lashes, Sollitto used Laura Mercier Sateen Eye Colour in Sable ($22, lauramercier.com).

Adams_Globes_Eyeliner_MascaraFor liner and mascara, Sollitto went with Dior, using Dior Style Liner ($29.46, amazon.com) and then Dior DiorShow Backstage Makeup Mascara ($29.99, amazon.com).

Lips Make the Look

Adams_Globes_LipsAmy Adams’ lips in her Golden Globes look gave her just the right amount of oomph to go with the otherwise fairly pale theme. It was a deliciously fruity combination of purples that brought out the pink flushed tones in her skin.

For lipstick, Sollitto started with the deeper berry hue of Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Plum Orchid ($26, lauramercier.com), and topped it off with the limited edition Laura Mercier Lip Glacè in Raspberry in the Laura Mercier Colour-to-Go Cool Neutrals Portable Palatte ($48, amazon.com).

Bottom Line

Amy Adam’s makeup helped make her look positively stunning by highlighting her beautiful features and complementing the delicate coloring of her ensemble. It’s a great look that you can almost certainly adapt for day or night. The colors are subtle and lovely enough that it makes you look effortlessly lovely, just like it did for Amy Adams.
