The Sephora Summer VIB Sale is officially underway and runs through the 27th of August. You can get up to 20% off on all your favorites. It can be a little overwhelming deciding which products you should “add to cart” so I put together this handy shopping guide!
Restock on Your Favorites
Sunday Riley Good Genes: What can I say about Good Genes that hasn’t already been said. It’s an amazing, effective product that is totally worth the splurge in my opinion. It’s been a longtime favorite of mine. It contains both lactic acid and licorice. A popular alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), lactic acid has smoothing abilities are similar to that of glycolic acid. However, the advantage to lactic acid is that it does not temporarily thin the skin like glycolic acid does, according to the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. This is particularly useful during the summer months when UV rays are the strongest.
Drunk Elephant C-Firma: If you want all the benefits of Skinceuticals CE Ferulic but don’t want to spend that much money, C Tango is a great alternative! It includes L-ascorbic acid, vitamin E, ferulic acid, and some newer ingredients like pumpkin and a new peptide, Chronocyclin. Most peptides claim to work to repair skin in some way, whether through signaling collagen-producing skin cell activation, pigment skin cell deactivation, or something of that sort. Chronocyclin promises to mimic the patterns of sun exposure on the circadian genes (UL Prospector). Specifically, Chronocyclin activates vitamin D within the skin in a time-oriented, cyclical fashion that is designed to “wake up” your skin at the right times, and strengthen its immunity and cellular defenses (Circadia).
Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM: One of my favorite retinol serums that Sephora carries! If your skin has grown resistant to 0.5-1.0% retinol serums over the years, then upgrading to PTR Retinol Fusion PM with 1.5% retinol is a good idea. It is microencapsulated, so it is more gentle than other non-microencapsulated retinol serums, and it definitely makes your skin look smoother after just a few uses.
Fresh Vitamin Nectar Vibrancy-Boosting Face Mask: Do you need a face mask in your skincare routine? In all honesty, not really. It’s more of a nice to have type of product. That’s why the VIB sale is the perfect time to restock on your favorites. If you’re looking for a product to slough off sun-damaged summer skin, look no further than Fresh Vitamin Nectar Vibrancy-Boosting Face Mask. It exfoliates, brightens, and refines the skin.
Try Something New
Biossance Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream: Landing just in time at a Sephora for the VIB sale is the Biossance Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream! Squalane is found naturally in the skin and as you age, its levels deplete, due to less production and reduced retention, so using products fortified with squalane may help prevent or treat dry skin as you get older! It also contains algae which is an excellent ingredient that is full of amino acids, proteins, and antioxidants. Its primary benefits are boosting hydration in the skin and boosting UV protection, making it fantastic for those looking to add some anti-aging benefits to their routine
Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask: Another eye cream, I know, but the VIB sale is the best time to buy things that you wouldn’t normally buy otherwise. What I love about Glow Recipe is that they combine proven, effective ingredients like encapsulated retinol and newer ones like Avocado fruit extract to make really lovely products.
Herbivore Bakuchiol Retinol Alternative Smoothing Serum: What the heck is this Bakuchiol thing that everyone is talking about? It is considered by many to be a plant-based retinol alternative that will be more gentle on your skin than traditional retinol, making it a great option for those who are more sensitive. While I don’t think you will ever get a true alternative to retinol, Bakuchiol does show promise and I’m interested to see what more studies come out in the future. In the meantime, if you want to try it for yourself, Herbivore just released a brand new anti-aging serum!
The Best Value Sets
Tatcha Bestsellers Set: Tatcha is known for its luxurious packaging and high-quality skincare that is rooted in Japanese culture. All of that comes with a pretty steep price tag, however. If you have ever wanted to try Tatcha products the VIB sale is a great time to start! The Bestsellers Set from Tatcha includes the Dewy Skin Mist (a favorite of Kim Kardashian), The Water Cream, Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder (a favorite of Duchess Megan Markle) and the Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil.
Drunk Elephant The Littles Set: Just like Tatcha, Drunk Elephant is another popular, effect brand at Sephora with a higher than the average price tag. The Littles Set is a great deal and the best way to learn if these products are worth the splurge for you! This set includes Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser, B-Hydra™ Intensive Hydration Serum, C-Firma™ Day Serum, T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum, Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil, C-Tango™ Multivitamin Eye Cream, Umbra Tinte™ Physical Daily Defense SPF 30 and Protini™ Polypeptide Cream.
